The Elders Project / Watch a video about the project here »
Concept development: B3 Media, BAVC
Still in development, The Elders Project is a major cross-media project that will engage intergenerational participants using a combination of photography, oral history, video, spoken word, text and interactive digital platforms to document and preserve the untold stories of the first generation of African-Caribbean settlers who came to Britain in the early 50's. Rufus joined the team at B3 Media, London, and BAVC, San Fransisco to develop these initial concepts, and will remain an ongoing participant as the project evolves.

Willow / Leather Accessories
Concept & Design: Willow
Digital Art Working: Rufus Kähler
Technology: Vector graphics / Laser cutting
Rufus jumped at the chance to collaborate with Surry Hills neighbour Willow, who needed assistance preparing their range of leather belts for laser cutting. Starting with the Willow design team's loosely drawn paper templates, Rufus digitally refined 4 complex geometric designs. The belts soon found their way onto the catwalks, premiering at New York's fashion week.

Design & build: Rufus Kähler
Technology: Flash
Having been a customer of The Hairdressers for many years, it seemed only natural for Rufus to help these guys get online. A pleasure to work with such a small, local business, the site took inspiration from the homely and communal nature of the shop itself.
